I picked this bike out for my Mother's Day gift and it's great! By sitting up straight I don't have lower back pain or knee issues. The gears are very easy to shift. The ride is comfortable. The bike is light-weight and responsive. I receive compliments on the style every time I ride. I am a leisure/recreational rider.

After having knee replacement 3 years ago I wasn't sure I would every be able to ride a bike again until I found the Trek Pure Lowstep. Most of the bike shops only carried the Townie which at the time only had 3 speeds and I wanted more. I found the Pure Lowstep on line and had my local bike dealer order it for me. I haven't been disappointed, the pedal forward position gives me the ability to ride again. If you have knee problems this is the best bike on the market!!

Use this bike to exercise my 18 month old puppy (with a "walkydog" lead). It is great to be able to put both feet on the ground for stability when needed. Also is great on my hands, since I don't put so much pressure on them. Have owned the bike for almost a year and ride 5 days per week. There is no way I could switch back to the other geometry. I've used it mostly on neighborhood streets, but also some well maintained trails. I can even get this bike on my car carrier without a support bar (ok it looks odd, but is secure).

Just got my pink bike today went for a 1 hour ride. I like being able to sit up and ride I will get a pretty basket for the handle bars. My husband said the bike is made very good and it has great tires. Had silver fenders put on. I am 5'2 only my toes touch ground. Plan long morning and evening rides for weight loss and fun

I have not been on a bike in 30 years, I tried to ride a few other brands of bikes but I had trouble getting on and off and the pedals seemed too far back. I have knee problems, the other bikes made the problem worse. I got on the Trek Lowstep and rode for 30 minutes the first time. It was fantastic to have the freedom from knee pain (also great to have the wind in your hair) The ride is great, very easy to pedal. I like that the handlebars are up higher this does not put the pressure on your back from bending over the handlebars. It is so easy to get on and off. It will take awhile to get used to "sitting" on the seat. That was the only problem I had, I guess I have to form additional padding on my own "seat". Love my Aqua Trek!!

            Comments:

I agree with all of the other comments, but had to add my own insight. I have nerve damage in my right arm, and a bike with a more forward position/pressure on the handlebars would cause numbness and pain in my right arm. I found that the upright riding position and higher handlebars eliminated that issue. I bought it for the ease of use, to be kind to my knees, and the handlebar position was an unexpected bonus.

I have been riding most of my adult life. I have just gone from a 21 speed ladies Trek to the Pure due to problems mounting the bike and balance when trying to get my foot on the ground due to a hip replacement. I have also completed the cancer route. Oh, and I bought this bike for my 70th birthday. I say these things because this bike is a savior for me. Love the security of putting my feet on the ground and being able to put my foot over the low step comfortably. It is a dream to ride. Pedaling seems easier with the forward placement of the pedals. It is a very well make bike and it brings me such pleasure to ride it. You have just got to try this bike. It makes you feel young again. I love my bike. Thank you Trek.

I was having problems starting and stopping the bike when I couldn't reach the ground when I was on the seat. With the Pure pedal forward, I can sit on the seat and take off and stop in comfort.

The best bike I have ever owned. Our first ride was 20 miles, nothing hurt, hard to believe. I was always way ahead of my husband. I raved so much, my husband went out the next day and bought one too. We love them. After 2 knee surgeries, I had a lot of problems with knee pain. This was an amazing ride, nothing hurt (well ok, maybe a little on the bottom side) but the legs where great. I would HIGHLY recommend this bike to friends, and have many times.
